Square Turquoise Mosaic Inlay Ring Repair

This client purchased her turquoise inlay ring over 20 years ago in Tucson, and one of the stones eventually fell out so she hasn’t been able to wear it.

Natural turquoise is a porous stone and is known to absorb oils from your skin, lotion, and any other chemicals you come across every day and ends up darkening the stone or making it a green color.

Because it would be really hard to match a turquoise that has darkened over the course of many years, I recommended adding a contrasting color like the black of onyx to go along with the geometric inlay design.

In the middle of an inlay ring repair where you can se the new piece of onyx cut and fit in the triangular section.

Here you can see the new piece of onyx cut to fit the opening perfectly. It hasn't been secured with epoxy and cut down yet.

Once the stone is set and has cured, I am able to cut the surface down flush and polish all of the stones and it’s finished.
