Larry Castillo-style Inlay Ring Repair
Larry Castillo style inlay ring that is missing a stone and one is cracked.
When my client came to me, she was missing a piece of sugilite in her Larry Castillo style inlay ring and wanted it to be replaced.
The ring arrived and upon inspection, I noticed that a lot of the stones were a bit loose so we decided to remove all of the stones to re-epoxy them and even re-cut a piece cracked turquoise.
(Pictured is the underside of the inlay ring repair, where you can see that the ring band needs to be re-soldered too).
This was helpful since I also noticed that the ring band broke at the solder seam, so it would need to be connected again and that can’t done with the stones in place or else they would get scorched and ruined.
With the stones removed, I thoroughly cleaned the stones and the inlay channel so it would be prepared to be re-set. I also soldered the ring band so it would fit my client much better.
From there, I was able to put the stones back in along with the two newly cut pieces before polishing everything back up so it would look brand new again!
Finished Larry Castillo style inlay ring repair with new sugilite and turquoise.
