Floral Turquoise Inlay Ring Repair
This client came to me with a dainty little turquoise inlay ring with floral accents, where some of the inlay stones had fallen out—nowhere to be found.
She was hoping to have it repaired for her to wear to her wedding coming up in a few months.
Since it seemed that the original epoxy in her inlay was weakening, she decided to go ahead and have all of the stones removed in her ring so that her ring could have a fresh start. And this was a great choice since when the ring arrived, I was able to loosen some of the stones out of the ring with just my finger!
Once all of the stones in the inlay repair were removed, I cleaned the inlay channel well before re-setting the original stones. Since I didn’t know how many stones were missing, I sent my client a little sketch of how I would cut the missing stones to match the pattern of the stones present.
With her approval of the stones, I was able to cut 3 new pieces of turquoise and set them in place.
Here is what my client had to say when she saw her ring repair for the first time:
“Caitlin, you are magic! I so appreciate you lending me your incredible talent to get this ring back in commission.”
